Free plumbing estimate template

Plumbing estimate template for repipes, remodels and replacements.

Fixtures, pipe by the foot, the permit, the drywall you will not patch and the hours each get a line. The template totals it, shows the deposit and balance, marks the document as an estimate and gives you a PDF to send before you leave the walk-through.

Or skip the typing

Say the job. The estimate writes itself.

This template is yours to use, no account needed. When you are done typing line items into a form, Voice To Task CRM does the same job from a 20-second recording: you say the parts, the hours and the customer, and the app drafts the estimate with your tax rate and your hourly rate already applied. Create a free account and get the app on the App Store or Google Play. The first 5 voice logs cost nothing.

For example, you say

“Estimate for the Reyes repipe: kitchen and hall bath supplies in PEX, about 180 feet at two-fifty, eight quarter-turn stops, manifold 140, two days labor for two, permit 180. We don’t patch drywall.”

What to put on it

What goes on a plumbing estimate.

  1. Fixtures and pipe with quantities Fixtures by count and model if the customer is choosing, pipe by the foot, valves by count. The quantities are what let a customer compare two estimates line by line and still choose you.
  2. Access and what you leave behind Say plainly what you will open and whether you patch it. “Drywall access cuts are left open for the customer’s drywall contractor” on the estimate prevents the most common repipe argument.
  3. Permit and inspection Permit at cost on its own line. Repipes, water heater replacements and sewer work need a permit in most jurisdictions, and the inspection is part of what the customer is buying.
  4. Deposit and validity The deposit to schedule and balance on completion, and how long the price holds (30 days here by default). Some states cap home-improvement deposits (California: $1,000 or 10 percent, whichever is less).
  5. License and the estimate label Your plumbing license number under your name, and the document labelled ESTIMATE with a note that charges may change once the work is open. The template prints both.

Licensing and deposit rules named above are the California Contractors State License Board’s (Business and Professions Code §7030.5, §7048, §7159.5); other states differ. Sales-tax treatment of labor and materials is set by each state’s department of revenue. None of this is legal or tax advice; check your own state board and your accountant.

Questions

Plumbing estimate questions.

Something else? Write to dev@adelyons.com.

What should a plumbing estimate include?

The scope by fixture or run with quantities, materials, labor, the permit, what access you will open and whether you patch it, the deposit and balance, the validity period and your license number. The template has a line or field for each.

How do I price a repipe estimate?

Most plumbers price pipe by the foot with fittings included, valves and manifold by count, and labor as person-hours or days. The template multiplies quantity by unit price per line and totals materials and labor separately.

Is an estimate binding?

A signed estimate with a defined scope usually operates as the contract, and several states require a written contract for home-improvement work above a dollar threshold. This template labels the document an estimate and says charges may change once the work is open; if you mean a fixed price, say so in the notes.

Is this plumbing estimate template free?

Yes. Fill it in, download the PDF or print it, with no signup. Nothing you type leaves your browser. It is made by the team behind Voice To Task CRM, a voice estimate and invoice app for plumbers, which is separate and optional.

Quote it on the walk-through. Bill it when you are done.
